Adopt International - Florida Hot
Is this the same agency that was denied Hague approval in May 2008? I notice this information on the State Dept's website.
adopt international -- Florida
I adopted with Candace in 2006.
I had concerns about the level of communication (she was often VERY hard to reach; medical updates and photos were always late.) There was also sometimes a noticeable lack of attention to detail (for example, errors in the power of attorney document she prepared when I accepted my referral. Met another AdoptInternational family who ended up with a lengthy previo because of a similar error on their PoA.)
Very disconcerting and added a lot of anxiety to the adoption process.
AdoptInternational also recently appeared on a list of agencies who failed to get Hague accreditation. I don't know what the reasons were. http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/convention/convention_4240.html
I am currently using Adopt
I am currently using Adopt International and feel that while they seem good, I am frustrated with the lack of communication on our case. We started in 2007 and were very much in contact with Candace in the beginning. Now we don't get much communication from them.
I can saying nothing but good things about Candace and her agency. Coming from a complete different continent we were abit worried about trusting our adoption (and money) in someone we didn't know at all. However we are very glad we did this, as Candace gave us a world of joy and happiness through the adoption of our daughter. She guided us from A to Z, and even before we had even started, we already knew what the process will consist of. Her lawyers in Guatemala were excellent and won't leave anything to go missing. I do reccommed Candace to anybody who wants to adopt, as our experience couldn't be any better.
Adoption of two children
I have such high regards for Candace and her staff. She is our angel!!
I found her online through Precious.org and was completely amazed at
how quickly she got back to me. Our first adoption, we adopted a little boy, who we named Alex. Candace was always there for us throughout the entire process from beginning to end. We adopted again through Candace, this time a little girl, whom we call Kate. The second adoption took longer- more waiting- than anything; but I must admit I wasnt worried one bit. I knew we had her in foster care and that she was being well taken care of. Candace would send updated pictures and an updated history of her every month. We got her when she was 13mns of age. Alex we got at 9 mns of age. We have three children now. One 7 year old (biological daughter), Alex our son who is now 3 and little Miss Kate who just turned 2. There is a chance we might adopt another. If we do we will definitely go through Candace O'Brien. We trust her completely!!!!
Adopt International - Florida
I used Candace when I adopted my daughter from Guatemala in 2006. She was incredibly supportive from the very beginning of the process. She always answered my questions, no matter how difficult they were, opening and honestly. Candace and the team she works with in Guatemala were excellent. My daughter was placed with a wonderful foster mother and recieved regular medical checks until I could bring her home.
I would definitely work with Candace again if I was to adopt another child.
This will be a relatively
This will be a relatively long posting but some things should be told. A few years ago I became involved with an adoption agency in Atlanta, Georgia. I had planned to adopt a little boy from Bulgaira amd had such high hopes only to be let down and disappointed beyond measure. I waited for two years on this child from this agency and spent over ten thousand dollars. After two years, I found out that the country had closed down and no kids were allowed out of the country. This happened on a Friday. Saturday night I was online researching new agencies and was led to Candace O'Brien. I found her online, shot her an email and heard back from her in just a few minutes. We ended up talking on the phone for quite some time that Saturday night, many times on Sunday and then on Monday I received the best news ever. She had a baby boy for me in Guatemala! She led me through the entire process of changing my dossier from Bulgaira to Guatemala, kept me informed of everything going on and utlimately made my dreams of becoming a mother a relaity. I mean what can you say about a person who plays such a wonderful part in your life?? She was a God send for me and my son. Throughout the entire process she was there for me. I never had to wonder where things were in the process, how my son was doing, what was going on with paperwork, when things were going to be done......nothing. She let me know everything every step of the way.
I am considering adopting another little boy and you can be assured that I will be working with Candace and her associates on this one too. The other thing I forgot to mention is the people she works with in Guatemala. I can't say enough about them. I was impressed with the way they handled everything once I was in Guatemala....both times I went there. They are very competent, concerned and compassionate. Candace surrounds herself with those who are like her. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that the people involved in providing you with YOUR child have you and the child's best interest at heart at all times......from beginning to end. Candace has followed up with me and my son for the past two years and one half years and I just do not know many people who would do that!! She is a wonderful person providing a wonderful service and she is doing it for all of the right reasons. She was my "dreamcatcher". Thank you Candace and to all of you who worked so hard to bring my little man home!!!

What a wonderful experience. I used Candace & her staff in 2004 to bring home my first son then again in 2006-2007 to bring home my second son. Candace made my dream to be a mom come true.
Candace O'Brien & Adopt International-Florida
I highly recommend Candace and her agency. We used Candace to get our daughter Anna from Guatemala in August 2007. It was a very lengthy process and Candace was there at every step of the way. She helped make the journey easy for us to accomplish and to understand. Once we got to Guatamela, Candace had her social worker Carla work with us while we were picking up Anna and she also were wonderful. I can not say enough good things about Candace, Carla and Adopt International. They made it possible for us to get our Anna and we would use them again if we had to, but our family is now complete. I would recommend this agency to anyone looking for a caring, helpful staff on your adoption journey.
very caring and professional in every way. highly recommeded
