Adoption Agency Ratings

This agency unfortuantely crushed us as they had problems with 2 employees in the St. Louis office. Our dossier was to be ready months in advance of this situation, but because of employees making very critical errors in the IL office, it was not sent. We then were told we would be put on hold until DCFS figured out what all the problems were with the office in Il. The only positive thing that came from this situation is that CHI found Holt International that was willing to accept our dossier. CHI was very disorganized, did not communicate with us and sent us over the edge with not knowing if or when we would be able to adopt. I am very bitter and nobody higher up ever addressed the issue with us personally. I would never recommend or trust this agency.

We adopted from China in Dec 2005. Our rep at CHI became a good friend through the process. We are currently in process for another China adoption through CHI. The wait has increased drastically but that has nothing to do with CHI...it is the CCAA and it affects every agency. CHI has been very up front about the wait....giving the "official" time line as well as their "estimate" timeline based on what they are seeing throughout the adoption community. They have been supportive and quick to reply/get answers before, during and after our adoption. Their in-country staffing was PHENOMENAL! While it is true they haven't received Hague accredidation yet, they are working very hard to get it. They had some problems with their Russia program (which I wouldn't recommend at this time) that boiled down to a couple of staff that weren't doing things right. They were immediately let go and CHI is working hard to correct everything in their Russia program...this is why they haven't received accredidation yet. However, their China program is top notch!
