Now when you say CAI do you really mean CCAI? The agency in Co? But also with offices, like Atlanta? (I used the Atl office myself)
Just checking to make sure.
I believe there is an agency called CAI too.
I also don't recognize the name AnnaMarie, however I have been home 3 years with our daughter and am somewhat out of the loop current staff wise.
I guess If I had to find one small complaint from the Atl office, I would have to go way way back to the first day of my paperchase. They had hired a gal just out of college and she was giving me wrong GA INS info and I knew it. I tolerated her but then finally told someone that she was passing out incorrect INS info.
I mostly dealt with CO and never had to see her again.
I have talked with them in the last years and really like the new guy Dick in Atl.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience, I'm just in shock.
We know Georgians who were so upset with places like GA Bethany and they left the agencies, and even left their $....to jump on board with CCAI.
People willing to lose $ to join CCAI says a lot.
But again this may be old information by now.....
Are you sure CCAI is in the bottom 20?
This just SHOCKS me from knowing so many China adopters and running a website for them for 5 years? We never ever heard anything bad about CCAI in those 5 years?
Not that I dont believe you, just trying to stay updated on them......
We used them for our first adoption. Other than coordinate our trip for us they really did nothing. Whenever we called them, which was only three times, they never returned a phone call. I thought of using them again for our second adoption, but when I called them I got their answering machine, left a message, and again they never called me back. They must have enough business so I figured they didn't need mine.
I used CCAI for both of my adoptions. They communicate throughout the process through newsletters, online weekly updates and e-mail. They will not pass along rumors - only facts. They are wonderful in their support during the wait (creating new mentoring programs as the wait continues to lengthen), have one of the best if not the best travel team in China, and have a strong post-adoption support department. They do not overcharge. They are Hague accredited. They care about the children in China and provide a lot of support through their charity arm. They have a counseling center and assist with referrals if you live outside of Denver. Just a top notch organization!!!
My husband and I are using CCAI for our second China adoption, even though the wait is ridiculously long. Our experience with them has been wonderful. They were timely with answering phone calls. They didn't overcharge. They don't charge money until you need it. They welcome questions and comments and concerns. They listen to parent feedback and provide support during the dossier process, while waiting for a referral, and even during the months and years after a return home. They are committed to the children in China and their families in the U.S. We are from a different state and used our own homestudy agency, but CCAI worked well with the homestudy agency. When friends using an adoption facilitator for their China program have questions they ask ME because they know I'll be able to get the information from CCAI. That's not to say CCAI never made a mistake-- they did. But they took credit for their errors and apologized. They provided wonderful in-country support. I wish our domestic adoption agency had been this wonderful. I just can't say enough kind words about them. CCAI rocks.
I loved CCAI. There we always nice and very helpful. When ever I would call or email with a question they were always nice and cheerful. There guides were stellar. Jason in Guangzhou was outstanding and very helpful when our daughter got sick. I would use them again in a heartbeat !
We used CCAI for the adoption of our daughter. We had a great experience with them. I felt they were very good at staying in contact with us throughout the wait. They were pleasant to deal with and never minded answering random questions as the process moved forward. Our guide in Guangxi was Michael and he was amazing. Our travel was managed beautifully. Overall, they were an excellent agency and I recommend them without reservation.
We used CCAI for our first adoption and are using them for our second adoption. They are fantastic, professional, friendly, helpful and caring. They know their stuff and genuinely care about the kids and their clients. It feels like family even though they are huge. We LOVE this agency and highly recommend them to anyone.
We used CCAI and really had a wonderful experience. They were always very nice and pleasant, quick to answer your questions and Josh and Lily are such sweet people. Our trip to China was so easy. No problems at all. Our guides Jason and Maggie were so very helpful. We were very impressed with all the staff of CCAI that helped us along our adoption journey.
They have been informative from the first call all the way through now, 2.5 years later. they have never given false information. Their website is always up to date with all information including the wait times. They update the wait times from LID to referral every month.
Top notch agency. We used them for our first adoption and they were wonderful from initial inquiry all the way through re-adoption. We are in the process again now for our second. We highly recommend them!
THIS IS THE BIGGEST UNCHALLENGED SCAM THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN.
6 years still no child! YES, 6 LONG YEARS!!! In all of the 6 years they have actually contacted us 2xs and only then to tell us virtually nothing! In the beginning they took our money and did nothing but make excuses and short-on words staff. You are never allowed to speak with management, just staff with attitudes that don't want to answer your questions! They speak to you like they are doing you a favor. ANY WHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD, IF YOU PAY FOR A SERVICE, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO GET IT...BUT NOT CCAI, WHERE IS OUR REFUND FOR FAILURE TO PROVIDE A SERVICE? MONEY, MONEY AND MORE MONEY THAT'S ALL WE HAVE GIVEN ...JUST RECENTLY THEY HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT THEY ARE NOW INCREASING THERE FEES...FOR WHAT? THEY HAVE GIVEN US NOTHING!!! AFTER 6 YEARS OF WAITING AND YEAR AFTER YEAR OF COSTLY PAPERWORK, HOMESTUDIES, ETC. WE HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT...SCAM AND FRAUD IS WHAT I THINK OF WHEN I THINK OF CCAI...WHAT EVER YOU DO...DO NOT TRUST THEM!
WHERE ARE THE LAWYERS WHEN YOU NEED THEM? IF I COULD I WOULD RATE THEM A 0, NOT BECAUSE I AM ANGRY, BUT BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY DESERVE BASED ON WHAT THEY HAVE GIVEN!!
I have to say I am very surprised by your comment. I wonder: Are you a CCAI family or are you representing an agency or any special interest groups? Did you talk to them before this posting? You seemed very angry in your message.
CCAI has been very upfront and straight forward with our family and all the CCAI families I have come into contact with about the waiting time and cost of our adoption. They always inform us that the wait for a child with special needs can be as short as a few months and as long as 18 months depending on the medical condition, gender and age of the child a family requests. I just had a conversation with them and was told that they have more waiting children available than waiting families as a result of participating in both shared and designated list.
I highly recommend you to call or write to them to have your questions answered. That is the most responsible and respectful way as we are all here to help children and ourselves, right? No need to be nasty.
Oh, one more thing, I believe this adoption agency rating site is for individual adoptive families who are in or have finished their adoption process. I really feel that is it very inappropriate for any agencies, special interest groups or organizations to participate or try to influence adoptive families’ opinions. This is just my two cents.
CCAI (Again the CORRECT inititals) is not turstworthy. They keep signing up clients to wait in the Waiting Children/Special Needs Program. There are so many waiting----with no end in sight---but CCAI does not inform these families of the wait. CCAI will sign them up and take their money---smiling the whole time---until you question them. Then the calls go un-answered. They snub the families.
They are not professional. Now, it seems they are even snubbing other agencies. In the China Waiting Child program, the children are waiting too long. In order to place these children, China's adoption office (C*C*A*A*) has allowed families to transfer out of agencies (with too long of a wait and/or unable to match them) and into another agency who may be able to match them to the shared list or their individual list. C*C*A*A* allows the family to use their logged in dossier IF their first agency (they are logged in with) provides a letter agreeing to the switch. Even though this is permitted, would help the family, and definitely help the children waiting, CCAI refuses to provide this letter. They have the beginning fees paid---so, they won't get the travel fees and some random fees regarding matching. That's it. But they refuse.
They have lied about policies. At one time, they were not involved with the shared list and said announced to clients that they felt the shared list was unethical. Now, they are allowed to match off the shared list---and they reported to the clients that it is now an honor to do so. What a twist! Even with the shared list available, they still have a backlog of families waiting and offer no alternatives.
Please ask how long the wait will be for a match before you give an agency a penny. If it is longer than a month, RUN!
I used CCAI in 2007 for my first adoption. Everything from that first phone call to after I got home with my daughter was STELLAR ! They aways returned my phone calls or emails within 24 hours. I'm now using them again for our second adoption and again they they have already went beyond what I expected. For both adoptions I have asked for a video of the girls, before I committed (because of the SN) and both times I had a video of them within 48 hours. They did not have to do that!! Their in China guides are awesome. Jason in guangzhou went out of his way when our daughter got sick. If I could adopt 50 more I would use CCAI for all of them! THEY ROCK!
We adopted our first daughter from China through CCAI's newly-formed Waiting Child Program in 2001. The agency had been highly recommended to us, but we wouldn't consider using them again. We would've received a discount for facilitating a second adoption through their agency, but we've contracted with a different one as we pursue our second special needs adoption. We've definitely made the right decision to change agencies. There's been no comparision in the professionalism, accessibility, and integrity. We initially found CCAI to be friendly and helpful. Well into the process, they wouldn't return our seldom calls for days, they'd dispense misinformation, and we found the near worship of Lily, the founder, to be most distasteful. It seemed CCAI was very concerned about the printing of numbers, and there were many days we felt that's what we were... a number. Being the biggest doesn't necessarily mean the best.
We've just been matched with a child after waiting almost 3 years. This Colorado agency has been AWESOME! I'd use them again in a hearbeat. We were at first not quite sure whether or not us being in a different state would be a problem (with communication) but they always returned my phone calls, emails and faxes within 24 hours. They always gave correct information. At first they didn't do a lot of hand-holding. Now they call every few months, personally, to talk and see how you're doing with the wait. They do update their website and send out both paper and email communications on a monthly or quarterly basis. As someone else posted, they do not address rumors. I've seen rumors come and go on the Yahoo sites for years now. Someone "heard" something about the wait decreasing, etc., and everyone gets excited, only to be plunged back into the depths of despair because the rumor turned out to be just that - rumor and not fact. CCAI will only report fact. Yes, this is frustrating not knowing but CCAI is not hiding anything. They are just as frustrated! Of course the wait is hideous, frustrating, and those of us logged in from '06 on - we were blindsided, by CHINA.
When we first started the process back in '05, the wait was about 9 months. As the months went by, the wait grew and grew. THIS IS NOT CCAI'S FAULT.
China has slowed down tremendously and I take serious issue with people saying CCAI "lied" about the wait. If these people read the paperwork they signed, and information they receive every month, the only thing CCAI can know for sure is what the CURRENT wait is, with a disclaimer of "and the wait is likely to increase"but also saying NO ONE knows what China will or won't do in respect to "the wait". This is on just about every piece of paper you sign! It was even on the forms back when the wait was only 6-9 months.
I'm so glad we went with a large, well-respected agency. As the months have gone by, they've stayed in business and became Hague-accredited. I feel for my friends who either have had their small agency close down in the middle of the wait, or not gotten accredidation and are now trying to figure out what to do.
We have received wonderful service from CCAI for both of our adoptions. CCAI is the most caring, professional, and knowledgable agency. China adoption is their speciality and focus so the paperwork went very smoothly. Their staff is China is the BEST! . Why use any one else?
We adopted our daughter from China and used CCAI. They were honest, professional, and held our hand every step of the way. The international paperwork that initially seemed so daunting was made easy by the professional guidance of this agency. From orientation through our post adoption work, we were thrilled with our experience with CCAI. We always received a super quick response to questions and the in country guides were amazing. We will absolutely use them again for our next adoption. We started the process expecting a short wait, but the wait began to extend while we were in process. Of course, the lengthening wait was dissapointing and stressful, but we understood that the longer and upredictable wait times were not our agencies fault but the result of things beyond their control. We respected that they didnt validate rumors about the China program that could not be confimed. This allowed us to trust that they would give us information when they had info that they could confirm as true. We are dissapointed that the wait time has increased, but know that if we are willing to wait, in time, we will be referred another child that is perfect for our family. We believe that the China program remains one of the most reliable international programs and know that we will use CCAI again. They deliver outstanding service at a reasonable cost. We couldnt be happier with them.
We worked with CCAI for our adoption and they are and were amazing! From the moment we first spoke I knew I chose the right agency. Each department I worked with was professional, caring and helpful. The wait was longer than we originally thought, but was so worth every moment. The founders of the agency are there for each family and that is one of the most important aspects to us as a family. Knowing how much they care for each family and child put our minds at ease. If we were to adopt again, we would call CCAI in a heart beat. They continue to support us since we have been home, and I have no doubt that support is going to last for many years to come!
Terrible agency, unfriendly and just unorganized.
We used CCAI for all three of our adoptions. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are a professional, expert adoption agency. Our phone calls were always returned. While in China they held our hand every inch of the way. Their staff truly care about the families. LOVE THEM, LOVE THEM, LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We used them (during short wait times) and were 10000% happy with them.
I have to admit that watching ALL agencies....sort of not warn brand newbies about the truthful wait bothers me.
This has nothing to do with CCAI though.
They ALL say "the current wait is" now sign up with us......
When reality is...the "current wait" means diddley to someone who just found an agency TODAY.
Using the "current wait" termanology does seem sneaky....but again they are ALL doing it.
I jave one word to describe CCA1...SCAM! They take your money and give you nothing. We have been waiting for almost 3 years and all they have to say is it may be additional months. As soon as you think your are getting close, that's when they tell you it may be another 12 months or more! Scam! Scam! Scam! You just have to just keep paying the immigration office and home study over and over again
We used CCAI for both our adoptions. I found them to be very good. I actually had a better experience with them on our 1st adoption than our 2nd adoption. We had some difficulties while in China for #2, and our guide Daphne was deceitful and not very pleasant about the situation. Which is strange because we had Daphne with us during our 1st adoption and had no problems.
Other than that, I recommend CCAI.
We used CCAI twice. We adopted via the NSN program in 2005 and via the SN program in 2007. Having pursued adoptions through both the NSN program and Waiting Child program, I feel well qualified to access CCAI.
Upfront about fees.
Upfront about CURRENT WAIT TIMES.
CCAI is really 'there' for their families. They genuinely CARE about the families and children. They are more than just your typical adoption agency in that they continue to GIVE BACK to SWI's in China, through many, many programs.
Both of our daughters were in Foster Care programs which were sponsored by CCAI. These CCAI programs trained Foster Parents very well. They GAVE BACK to the communities.
We would ONLY adopt via CCAI. Period.
Are you kidding me?! CCAI is perhaps the most organized adoption agency out there. Their Dossier Guide is always being updated and they have a policy of returning all emails and phone calls within a 24 hour period. Try using another agency and then you will truly SEE just how GREAT they are!
If I could give them 0 stars I would.
They lied to us from the start, we started the process on year ago and they told us it would take 1 year. Now it turns out that even then they knew it would take much longer.
Instead of giving us any notification about the increase in waiting time they just sent stupid recipes and other useless crap. These people should be brought to court. They are the worse kind of liars because they pry on people that are powerless!
