Friends of Children Adoption Agency...

In January of 1984 I had a baby boy and placed him for adoption with this agency out of Atlanta Georgia. I heard a few years later that they had gotten in trouble for transporting children across state lines or something like that, and that they had been doing other unethical practices and were shut down...for twenty four years, I have been worried about my son, and I would like to know if anyone who reads this knows how I could find out what happened to him, or if anyone knows of this agency and how I can find them and the records of my adoption?

Whomever, i think u did try to contact my grandma a few years back, but she's in her 90's and didnt know what was going on. Please call again..

Friends of Children, GA. Adoption Oct 1987

I just wanna find my daughter. Born in October 1987 in Georgia. I couldnt even Name her, They called her 'Baby Girl Allen'. I dont know what hospital they took me to. For 1 1/2 weeks prior, they had me locked away in an apt in Marietta Ga, right off Interstate. Didnt let me make phone calls, go anywhere, do anything. After I gave birth, they pretty much rushed me to airplane and sent me back to St. Pete, FL. I've been crying for almost 24 yrs. I want to find my daughter, that they took away... My son wants to meet his sister. We luv her. I've never stopped. Pray every day she's doing good.
Friends of Children Adoption Agency, very fishy org.

Friends of Children Adoption Agency

I gave birth to a Baby Girl at the beginning of Oct 1987, and F.O.C. was the agency that took advantage of my young Naive self. They pursuaded me into giving my daughter up for adoption. I dont think i've gone more than a day or two without crying my eyes dry. My biggest fear is 'whether she got adopted by a good family'. FOC swore to me that SHE was gonna get great parents, but now I'm wondering, because Agency seemed to disappear.
Out of my 3 child births, My 1st born (son) passed away 7/15/08 at 22 yrs old.. My Youngest son(22) lives with me. All I ever dreamed about was a Daugher, and thats the one i gave up for adoption. It drives me crazy. Both my Sons wanted to meet their daughter, they tried searching, i've tried searching. I dont know what to do. I'm at end of ropes. I dont know what else to do.... I left my records OPEN so she could find me. But I didnt know that dang Agency was not on the up and up. I just pray one day i can find my Baby Girl Allen.

My mother was around 17 years old
She had vision problems, I inherited an eye condition from her
My father had been married several times

I have blonde hair, blue eyes and am 5'5
I am of above avg intellegence:)
I suffer from depression, bi-polar disorder and alcoholism...these tend to be hereditary so that may be helpful idk.

FRIENDS OF CHILDREN - HOW TO FIND RECORDS

1

Adoptees or birth parents looking for records from Friends of Children in Atlanta should contact the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry (GARR). They've got a website with forms you can download to allow access to your records. If your b-child is over 21, b-parents can also have access to some of their information too.

Hopefully the poor service got the best of them b/c the number no longer works! I am sorry for those of you that had a bad adoption experience! Thanks for putting your opinions out there!

Awful! FCVN covered

Awful! FCVN covered everything that one looks to avoid in an adoption agency.
•Their fees are not properly disclosed, and we were surprised with a large extra cost upon receiving our referral.
•Every time we had a question we would have to call 3-5 times before anybody would answer, and leaving messages was pointless since those were rarely if ever returned.
•Very poorly organized. They should be embarrassed to ever have anybody come to their office since it is such a mess.
Thankfully we were able to hound the agency enough that we actually completed our adoption. I can not say the same for others. Several other families we know had to switch agencies because FCVN’s incompetence and poor ethics made their adoption nearly impossible.

We would NEVER use this agency again.
