Journeys does a decent job.
Pros: The staff are all very kind, well-meaning people who care deeply about the cause of adoption.
They have a lovely social worker who made a perfect match for us.
We had a successful domestic adoption of a healthy newborn within the timeframes and budget promised.
Cons: They are woefully understaffed, therefore communication was poor both with us as clients and within the organization itself.
They mixed up our paperwork on several occasions.
The mismanagement of our paperwork caused big delays in our finalization last year.
Journeys of the Heart helped us
Journeys of the Heart was just right for us, I only wish we had found them sooner. We were with another agency for 18 months in their domestic program and we never came close to a match. That agency went out of business and they offered to move our file to another agency that seemed to have an agenda we were not comfortable with so we went with Journeys on our own. Two months later our beautiful baby came home with us from the hospital! We worked with Kimberly and Kristina and they were wonderful. We are truly blessed and want you to know that our experience was perfect.

Just wanted to comment on my own post regarding the new reviews. While we did not have an incredible experience with Journey's, we did bring home a beautiful baby boy. We are not perfect, rich, or thin (far from it, in fact!) and Journeys had no problem working with us. So just wanted to say that while I understand the frustration with this agency, I would not agree that you have to be beautiful and thin to work with them.
