Please note that there are two agencies using the name CHI. Those are Children's House International and Children's Hope International. Don't confuse the two. It is best to type in the entire name.

No, you are inaccurate- Children's Hope Kaz program is Awful

I have no agenda, other than as one of the many (ie over 190 PAPs) in the Kaz program who pulled out, given how broken their Kaz program is. This program (in it's best year) did only 15 adoptions. You do the math, with 190 PAPs in process, and over 35 dossiers SITTING at the MOE (many for over 9Ms) when I pulled in December of last year, I speak from personal experience.

I spoke to each family who came home without a child-There were four (that I know of) in less than a 12M period. CHI- withheld that information (until) one family told us all the horrific truth.

I wonder at your "agenda" are you a CHI associate in hiding?? Trust me, the program is now closed, and I know it is not because of an overwhelming success- it is because of their inability to deliver to the PAP's still waiting. It was one of the best decisions they made. I asked back in November (before I pulled out) for Karen to close the program- answer-no.

I have kept in touch with about 20 of the other PAP's who pulled out (as well as) the MANY who are still there -waiting, and waiting- worried sick they may never get their child (but) not able to pull out because of the financial costs to start over.

Any one looking at Children's Hope Kaz program-RUN FROM CHILDREN's HOPE. RUN!

This concerns me - I'm in the CHI Kaz program

I am with CHI Kaz program currently and since I am fairly early in the process this really scares me. I did just go to the CHI Kaz page and they are no longer accepting Kaz applications stating they are basically full right now in this program. Would you be willing to send me the information you have? I basically just stumbled on this web site and was horrified to read your comments. The math just doesn't work out based on those numbers! Any information you would pass on to me would be greatly appreciated! I need to decide to get out now and go to another agency or not before I spend any more money on something that may never complete!

CHI KAZ program

Hello- Pls. let me know what information you would like. If you have just stared with CHI- I would encourage to look at other agencies. World Partners and Little Miracles are the best two in Kaz. With all the changes going on in KAZ- (and the rumor that the country is currently looking at slimming down the number of agencies who can work there) your best bet is to go with the two best.

Everything I have stated is accurate and can be validated. I have formally filed a compliant with the COA and the Hague. I do have to share I have been extremely impressed at the speed of their response to my compliant and the "recourse" which could be taken.

Agencies who mislead (intentionally or thru lack of their own edcuation) is crimminal (in my book). When I spoke with Mr. Gantt about the mutitude of problems with their program- his response- "we just didn't know better" - Meaning, they had the mentality "if CHI sends dossiers in, LOI's will come" Never was proactive to review their processes, staff needs, in-country challenges. They just took innocent peoples money and felt that was ok (knowing-by their own acknowledgement by the end of last year) that the program was serioulsy broken. Yet, they still kept accepting applicants.

I want to be clear- I didn't file a formal compliants to get any funds back. I filed so that no one else would ever have to go thru what I did (and many, many others) from Children's hope.

I have signed with another agency- and am now reviewing referrals- I have been with them 4M. Dossier is done, and I am on my way. After 12M with Children's Hope I was no where near even being considered for a referral. I have two friends still with them (one is now leaving) as her Dossier has to be completely "redone" Home Study too (as her docs are now almost a year old). The other one is giving them until September- if no referral she will be leaving too (as) her entire Dossier would have to be redone.

CHI Kaz PAP

I guess I feel rather at a loss as to what to think. I have no idea 'how' this process should actually go so I'm not sure I would even know if CHI is broken. Is there somewhere I can go and find this information on what should be and maybe is not occuring at CHI? I have heard at least 5 families have 'jumped ship' so to speak earlier in the year. And I know every agency cannot please all people. All I have to go by as far as how long this 'should' take is from what anyone at CHI tells me - how do I know if this is 'longer' than it should be? So far I have been told approximately a year after submission - some longer some shorter.
I have asked for information from LMI but have not received anything back as a response yet. WPA - their website says you cannot chose gender and since I am likely only adopting once I prefer a girl.
You are saying you have went with another agency and are reviewing referrals? I thought Kaz was a blind referral country so does that mean you are currently in country now 4 months after signing with another agency? That is submitting your dossier, getting through the Embassy or Consulate, MFA and MOE? All of that?? If that is the case that is definitely way quicker. Any information on where to find this stuff out at would be greatly appreciated!

KAZ PAP with CHI

Hello!

Trust me when I tell you 5 families jumping ship (early this year) is an understatement. I know it was more like 5 families every month (keep in mind we are talking over 190+ families in process) with only 1 (best case) 2 referrals a month- you do the math on why so many left.

I have had families email me- after they are 'in deep" with CHI being told their 12M wait is now 18-24M "wait" plus. Your doc's cant be that old (to travel there) so you are looking at redoing all doc's (and HS) with a 12M+ wait. With a 18-24M wait, you are looking at a 2-3X redo rate. Have you factor that cost into your adoption?

First, take what WP shared to heart. The "same" rumor I shared about KAZ slimming down the number of agencies- well the "option" of selecting the sex of your child is the next one on the "rumor" list. I would tell you both are closer to the "truth" than "rumor". The difference is- good to great agencies tell you this up front (like WP has) CHI- WON'T. They will spring it on you after you are "well into" the process.

I a not adopting now from KAZ. I am with another agency and another country (I can share all of this off line if you want to know more).

In terms of your last (or maybe first question) how would you know the process- excellent question- which CHI wont tell you (or I should say they will- with too many "outs" to cover themselves, and leave you wondering)..

I called a number of angencies and spent hours talking to them about their process (and) compaired it to CHI. I then shared my finding with CHI (on why their adoption program is broken). They already knew much of what I told them- didn't change a thing. They know where they need to fix their program (and) for some unknown reason to me- don't.

Again, Pls. do your own investigating. Go to the Kazkid group site- select a few names- (by looking at when they joined) question those - offline who have been there over a year and ask them "why". You shared you are looking to adopt a girl- Won't happen with CHI. Girls are gold there- only the best get them. CHI stats on adoption of girls this year: ONE. Last year- TWO-THREE. The year before? ask them!. Look for those families who adopted a girl and ask them what their wait was. Ask them about their experiences.

KAZ PAP with CHI

Thank you for your information. I will definitely do my own investigating! And I may like to talk to you off line but I'm not sure how to do that on this web site?

thank you again!

Children's Hope International- Russia Program

I have been with CHI for over a year now waiting for our referral, we changed regions so of course it has taken longer than expected. I have to say things have been running a little slow, but now that CHI has gotten reaccreditation it has picked up. I am not sure why so many staff members have come and gone, but it does make you wonder what is happening. CHI is a great agency and I have to say they are trying. I hope that everyone else see's the good in CHI.

The GOOD in CHI

From my own experience with CHI -- The individual people with whom we interacted were good people (kind, supportive, friendly, etc.). However, please DO NOT let that be your deciding factor. Families considering Children's Hope International for a Kaz adoption should do just as the original post says -- RUN AWAY. They may be "good people" but they do not know what they're doing in Kaz, and the relationship between them and the officials in Kaz is terrible. Forget what you may know or have experienced with other countries -- Kaz is not like China or other countries. It all comes down to the in-country relationship between the agency and Kaz. Little Miracles and World Partners are the undisputed leaders. I have also seen many success stories from Adoption Ark.

Arati gone

Arati at CHI is now gone....CHI people should ask the hard questions...WHY. Going Broke? Oh it was less than a month ago when I said this was coming. I'm sure a little information will leave with her....
