The communication lines at ACD are horrible. We had the worst time getting hold of anybody to get our questions answered. We finally made contact with AnnaMarie and were treated like criminals for simply trying to clarify our responsibilities. She actually threatened to give our daughter to another couple after we had held her in our arms! I have never been treated so poorly. And the pricing is all "ala carte" .... the basic fee for ACD is comparable to other agencies, but ACD adds all basic costs in addition to the fee where other agencies include most costs as part of the fee. These people are in the business for the money, not for the children. I should add that their social worker Susan was very helpful, although she did not get support from the head office to handle our case when she had to take a couple of days off - leaving us stranded in Las Vegas for an extra 5 days.
I read your comments and boy do I know how you feel. The social worker who dropped off our boy was very nice, but didn't really seem to have a clue and AnnaMarie didn't even know who her social worker was when she accused us of an illegal finalization! We had our adoption lawyer talk to "the person in charge" at the agency, turns out to be AnnaMarie's husband!! Not much chance that any action was taken. I did lodge a complaint with the BB, don't know if that helped. I am so thankful for this post to be able to get the word out and possibly save some families the problems we had. When did you work with them? Have you adopted any other children? We should start a support group for people who have had to work with AnnaMarie! LOL

Yes, I think we should, start a support group for all the people that ACD have traumatized. :-) With so many adoption agencies around, how did all of us end up even finding them?? Up til now I actually thought it was something my husband and I did so drastically wrong - so this site has actually been therapeutic.
