We took were mixed up in all of Kerry's lies. She never had any answers for us and tried to place blame on us for not doing enough on our own and depending on her too much--isn't that why we were paying her!!!!!!! We started the process in April of 2006 and finally brought our son home in December of 2007. We got our referral the day of his birth in August 2006 and in about February 2007 she started to not know anything that we asked her. We stopped getting our updates in July. She stopped responding to any emails or phone calls. After calling and emailing the US embassy for over 2 months and getting nowhere we went to our state Senator. Our son was legally ours in July of 2007 and it took us 5 months to get our appointment at the embassy. We called our senator's office after it was suggested by another adopting family from a different agency and the very next day we had our appoinment scheduled. We were our money like everyone else. I'm just glad that the agency is now shut down. I feel for those still in limbo. We were contacted by the FBI shortly after we came home but haven't heard anything further.
For those of you caught in the middle, have faith. Believe that you were connected with your child for a reason that someday you will be united as a forever family.
Your story sounds alot like ours. We excepted our referral for our son at his birth sept. 06 and still are waiting for him. I called Kerry the Monday before x-mas and found her phone disconnected. Panic mode.... Called Jose our translator and found out a lot of instersting things. Kerry had been blaming Guatemala and it was not them. We foudn out a large number of children have been out of PGN since August and our facilitator had been waiting on payment to complete the adoption. Our son had been out of PGN since August 07. She told us we were out of PGN end of Oct we sent her the remaining 10K to finish our adoption. After that it was waiting on Guatamala, Birth mother you name it we were told it. The holdiays, The Hague, she told us we were not allowed to go see him this was back in May due to the hostility between the 2 countries and that we would be getting him home soon. We didn't recieve any medicals or pictures since June of last year. One point she went down but when I asked about the pictures she said the film had been destroyed in customs. Or someone else was going to get the pcitures and she was waiting on them to get back and ge them to her. Blah Blah Blah. Then looking back thru my e-mails now that I have copies of all of them. Things really do not match up. I believe she was planning this for a while. It makes me sick to my stomach to believe that due to one womans greed so much heartache could come of it. I believe in the end she will get her just and we will finally get our son home. We hired adoptoin supervisors and Troy with Guatadopt.com have been God Sent. Midge one fo the directors from POZ has been a great help also. We are currently waiting on the Birth certificate, our I600A expired so we're getting that done and finally we'll be able to go pick up our SON. I'm hoping all goes thru well but things have been indifferent from day one. SO we're hoping all goes well in the end. If anyone else knows anymore details to their story or want to chat let me know. I also recieved a letter from the insurance company.
