Every day I thank God for adopting through this agency.
In 2004 we picked up our delayed and tiny 5 year old from the Republic of Georgia. She was so tiny she looked like a munchkin! All adopted
children are considered special needs children, and ours is too. However, after 4 years, our 9 year old is at grade level, is above average in intelligence and securely attached. She is a great kid!!!
While in Tiblisi, we were with another family who chose not to adopt their little girl due to concerns regarding her development. This event jeopardized our adoption but through negotiations, tears and pleas our adoption went through. The little girl left behind was adopted later by another family and is doing well.
There are no guarantees in adoption as well as in birthing a child. When a child and a family are united as a family not knowing each other and making a family work, this is a wonder. Recently I saw some photos of toddler boys in Georgia needing a family. If only our house was bigger, our paycheck as well, we'd hop on a plane using the same agency. No reservations.
My husband and I adopted that little one who was left behind almost four years ago. She is thriving and absolutely gorgeous. She as well as her 4 year old sister are totally attached and loved by our entire family. What a blessing our "babies" are, and what a blessing Kathy and Irina are. We currently have a foreign exchange daughter from Georgia and our three girls are getting along famously. It's going to be hard to let our 17 year old "daughter" leave in June. Kathy is the reason we have her with us. She put us in touch with PIE, the organization that sponsors foreign exchange students brought to the U.S.
