adopt international -- Florida

2

I adopted with Candace in 2006.

I had concerns about the level of communication (she was often VERY hard to reach; medical updates and photos were always late.) There was also sometimes a noticeable lack of attention to detail (for example, errors in the power of attorney document she prepared when I accepted my referral. Met another AdoptInternational family who ended up with a lengthy previo because of a similar error on their PoA.)

Very disconcerting and added a lot of anxiety to the adoption process.

AdoptInternational also recently appeared on a list of agencies who failed to get Hague accreditation. I don't know what the reasons were. http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/convention/convention_4240.html

I also adopted with Candace in 2006 and most importantly I found her always to be honest and forthright about the situation in Guatemala. If you had checked her website you would see that she has posted the actual letter she received from the COA regarding her Hague accreditation and their reason for denial - a website issue. As well as her response to them. This is a perfect example of the honesty and forthrightness I experienced with Candace.

Thank you very much for your reply. I had looked through the website for an explanation, but I think my browser was showing me a cached version of her website which had some of the changes on it (like the countries being closed) but not others. After reading your message, I knew the docs must be there and figured out what was going on (refreshed the screen and got the links.)

Having read the COA report and Candace's response, I agree with you about Candace's honesty and forthrightness.

But I have to say, this also stands out to me as a perfect example of her lack of attention to detail. Even when the stakes are as high as her own agency's accreditation. And that is making me feel very sad.
