I just completed my daughter's adoption thorugh Spence-Chapin's domestic program. I love the agency! The social workers are well trained, caring professionals. I truly beleive the birth families receuve quality counseling and are treated ethically and with repspect, as does my daughter's birth mother.
Spence provides APs with counseling, preparation and education. The satff is available for questions and support. I cannot say enough!

We already have a homestudy done in April. I am assuming that we just have to go to the info. meeting. The homestudy takes the time, so we have that behind us.
When I phoned them for info. they made it seem that they have a huge amout of people waiting to adopt.

The amount of people waiting has little bearing on when you bring home your baby. It depends on when you are chosen by birthparents. That could take 2 months or 2 years, it all depend on the birthparents selecting you.

Just curious- Were there any hidden fees/costs? The wesite says they base everything on a sliding scale.
We have other biological children and were initially looking to adopt from foster care to add to our family. We have a homestudy done. We came across Spence Chapin on the web.
Any more info. would be very helpful.

Totally based on a sliding scale which is a percent of your AGI depending on your income bracket. No hidden costs at all. Spence-Chapin has the most reasonable fees I have encountered in all my research.

Our homestudy/prep took 4 months (standard.) We had our baby home in less than 3 months after that was complete. Unusual but not impossible!
