Adoption Agency Ratings

I'm a birth mother that found parents for my child through this agency. They were extremely supportive and helpful even after the birth. If I had to use them all over again I definitely would.

This agency has been absolutely wonderful! We have had a very smooth and easy time, especially compared to the very poorly run agency we started with! Open Door matched us with a birth mother after only a few weeks, as opposed to 18 months and NO match with the previous agency.

We have met our birth mother and she reports only very positive experiences with Open Door on her end as well. Open Door meets with Birthmoms and carefully interviews them to do their best to ensure these aren't scammers who will bleed the agency dry and then disappear. It does happen and that may be where some of these nasty comments came from. Our experience has been that the agency is extremely compassionate and caring, both to us and to the birthmom.

As for the updates, it is the birthmother's responsibility to contact the agency for those and also to keep her address information current. If she isn't getting updates, maybe she isn't requesting them? I do know that the agency holds those for 18 years, even if the birthmom never asks for them, just in case she changes her mind.

I feel very comfortable giving the highest rating to this agency. They have been nothing but professional, kind and committed people. They have treated the birthmothers I have been in contact with, with respect and caring.

The only people I can think of who would be unhappy with the agency would be the scammers who go in and take all the money they can get and then "change their minds" about placing the babies. Then they disappear without reimbursing the agency, even though they signed an understanding that they would. Not only is that dishonest (if, in fact they went into it planning to scam--I'm not talking about people who legitimately have a change of heart!), but it is devastating to the families who are waiting, thinking they are about to bring a baby home.

We love Open Door and would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. If you're considering them, do the smart thing and check them out yourself instead of just relying on comments posted here. I think you'll find an honest, Christian agency with your best interests at heart, whether you are a birthparent or an adoptive parent.

This agency lies. They lie to all their clients, and patronize birth moms like crazy. They lied to our daughter's birth mom, and after we adopted, they never sent her our updates. We found her through a search site, and contacted her ourselves. When we confronted the agency, they lied again. Do not trust these people. Also, if your are not white, they crap on you even more. They give Christians and Christianity such a bad name. HORRIBLE AGENCY.
