I would not recommend SMI. My 9 month old son was very ill when I visited him in Guatemala and I informed SMI about my concerns. They would not allow me to get a second medical opinion. My son passed away 1 1/2 weeks later. When I wrote about my concerns that my son needed medical care sooner, they rescinded their offer of a new referral. They did not return any of the monies paid to them nor give me a new referral - and I had paid the total amount.
