The Best Agency

Family Creations was beyond helpful with our adoption journey. I am sickened to read these accusations and reviews of the people who helped make my family whole. Like any agency, there are situations that fall through, and they can be heartbreaking for the adoptive family. A woman has the right to change her mind and decide not to move forward with adoption. This is the risk with any domestic adoption. The agency is not to blame when a woman changes her mind and that is what seems to be happening. The work they do for people in the community is unlike any other agency that I have heard of. They are ethical and respectful to expectant families and that is why we are so happy that we used Family Creations for our adoption. We would not hesitate to use them again.

I can't believe this

This is crazy!!! Unfortunately, we can say the same thing happened to us with the same language. Kirk would call his birth mom “his girl” and then he would brag how they would do anything for him. It was very disturbing. On the second visit his social worker (who we now believe wasn’t even licensed) told us we were matched with a baby girl and we hadn’t even filled any paper work out. This was very unsettling, but we had never been through this process. We didn’t know anyone who had been through an adoption, and we wanted it to be true so badly. We wrote Kirk our first check, which he cashed it as he was talking to us (that was super wired). The second our check cleared the nightmare began. He became so unprofessional, talking about private matters with his other clients, and at one point told us exactly how he gets away with scamming these poor people. So, to make a long and horrifying story short, the blackmail started. When he found out he wasn’t getting another dime from us we asked him to refund our money we already gave him for a service that he did not even try to provide. He was extremely upset we asked for the money back, he then told me that we would be horrible parents and he had the power to make sure we couldn’t adopt in this country again. We right away called a lawyer and he told us they get calls all the time about Kirk and it is always the same sad story. Then we told him about the money that he stole, and the lawyer said we were lucky. Kirk only took a few thousand dollars from us, he usually would take way more $13,000 and up. I wanted to thank the brave people who are speaking out. Hopefully we can get enough of his victims to speak out so this will stop him and hopefully the law will get involved.

hope this helps future victims

Hi Adoptive parent 2. Kirk did the exact same thing to our family. He used the same language he called his birth moms "his girls" and said they would do anything for him. It was very disturbing!! After he cashed our first check right in front of us he started telling us very inappropriate stories about his other client. Long and horrible story short he put us though hell, he matched us with a mom before the paperwork was even filled out,( actually we never filled out paperwork we didn't get to that point, he knew exactly what he was going to do to us), he then started blackmailing us, and when he found out he wasn't going to get another dime from us. We then asked for the money back that we had given him in the beginning. That made him extremely made, and told us we would be terrible parents and he had the power to make it so we could never adopt in this country again. I want to thank adoption helper for writing also. When we got a lawyer he told us unfortunately he's heard this story so many time with the same situation that Kirk put these wonderful family though hell. We wanted to stop him but we didn't have enough money and our lawyer told us Kirk banks on it. He only took a few thousand dollars from us and our lawyer said we were extremely luck because he normally gets many more. I'm so sorry to hear that he done it again and hurt another family. Hopefully more of Kirk victims will come our and we can stop him from hurt great people like us.

Don't use this agency - there are plenty of others

If I could rate Kirk and his agency a 0 star, I would. We were one of those couples who, unfortunately wound up losing over $13K to Kirk and his agency. In hindsight, both my husband and I feel strongly that we were scammed and there was never a birth mother who was seriously interested in placing a baby with us. We should have walked away when he threatened us by saying 'maybe another couple is better for this match' when we asked him to help us understand where all of the expenses were coming from, or when he referred to his staff as 'my girls', or when the only contact we had with him when the situation started getting bad was via text (yes, they screen their phone calls)... but we were desperate for a baby and were foolish at the time. We have since adopted from another agency that was wonderful, so if you are considering this agency, PLEASE don't make the same mistake we did. There are plenty of agencies out there that are great... this is not one of them. Don't do it.

Thank you adoption helper

This is to Adoption helper. Thank you so much for your post. My husband and I are desperate to start a family, and Googled adoption agencies. We came across Family Creations as well as your post. We started right away calling local sources you mentioned and found out that you were absolutely correct. All of them had the same thing to say about this agency. They wouldn’t disclose any specific information, but all cautioned us against working with him. We did get a few local agencies that came highly recommended from these sources. We have or first appointment with a local agency come up soon. I am writing this because I feel that your voice should be heard, and something tells me you saved us from future heartbreak.

important please read

We hope this will help anyone thinking of using Family Creations located at, 3010 Manatee Avenue W, Bradenton, FL 34205 with Executive Director Kirk Zeppi. We highly recommend you call a local attorney, talk to judges, and other local adoption agencies before deciding on any agency, but specifically this one. My husband and I wish we did this before we unfortunately walked though this businesses door. Family Creations and especially Mr. Kirk Zeppi is very well known in the area and not in a good way. If you do choose to work with this company we recommend you hire a good attorney to protect yourself and
keep your family safe by walking away the second it starts going sideways. Please know if you are going to be his next victim there are other trustworthy agencies out there waiting to fix the horrible nightmare he will do to you. My husband and I found out not to long ago that he had done the same thing to more than six families since us, and it hasn’t been that long. If you are one of his many victims please speak out, this could be the only way to protect future family’s just like us.

Inept Agency with Corrupt Practices

This agency never disclosed to us that the birth mother was a minor nor that the baby was a premie. The child was extremely sick. There are over 6 months of missing medical reports. When we asked for medical reports or pictures, I was told that we were being unreasonable, as there was too much going on in Guatemala. After visiting the child and seeing how sick he was, we canceled the adoption. The owner of the agency FINALLY decided to visit the child. Strangely, my issue was that the child was severely handicapped and could not walk. Well, the baby's leg was broken 2 days before the owner was there to see if he could walk. The owner of the agency decided that the baby was fine. Moreover, that all our money was spent in Guatemala and he was a small non profit agency, and my husband's finacial status could afford a $14K loss!
After speaking with the Hague Accrediting people, I learned there were more issues that this agency violated. First off, they took the $14K without my 171H or HomeStudy in hand. Another thing that they did wrong was send me a picture of the baby, while I was not even a registered member of their agency. So... run from this agency. Do not lose any money from them. Strangely, the owner of the agency owns a profitable Day Care and apartment complexes.
