Saint Mary International Adoptions Inc
Be CAREFUL with this agency
Please be careful when considering this agency to adopt from Bulgaria or Poland. This agency uses strong religious dogma to convince parents that adoption is God's calling and that adopting children with special needs is part of God's mission. The adoption fees are grossly underestimated on their website- total adoption costs are over $50,000. All costs are non-refundable and can't be transferred towards another adoption.
However, there are agencies that are more honest about adoption/special needs/costs/etc.
Those agencies not only work with Poland but also with other countries and costs/payments can be applied towards another adoption if Poland does not work.
Be very careful with St. Mary's, read the reviews below... we also found that the story changed after we made our payment and the children that we were told were available for adoption did not exist.
We did not have a good experience with SMIA. Owner/ operator intentionally withheld very relevant information about our children, probably so we wouldn't back out. We can't recommend SMIA.
My husband and I have a had
My husband and I have a had a very good experience with SMIA. We always receive timely responses, and the process was very smooth and fast. The in country representative is amazing. If we decide to adopt a 3rd child, we will definitely use them again.
I ended up leaving this agency in under 6 months of signing with them. The owner was difficult to communicate with. Did not answer questions and became VERY defesive when she was questioned about anything. She lead me to believe that I could specify gender and age prior to signing up with the agency then changed everything on me once I signed up. When I left I was not refunded any of my money. Beware of this agency!
