Nightlight Christian Adoptions
We've had countless unexplained delays, dealt with ongoing poor communication, and have waited >2 years with no progress in sight. This is our first international adoption experience, and we are quite disappointed overall. Would not choose this agency again.
Nightlight maybe used to be a good agency - but they are not anymore. Specifically the International Adoption Program for Haiti - based in Loveland Colorado.
Countless mistakes (paperwork, poorly translated documents, outdated forms) were made from their end delaying adoptions for months and months. They communicate infrequently and are also defensive and aggressive if you question the process at all. When faced with owning up to their errors they will blame you for "not understanding the paperwork". They also ignored a complaint from a parent of an abuse scandal at an orphanage (suspected in 2015) till 2017 when they were forced to face the issue when 5 confirmed cases of the abuse came to light after testing was done on one of of the children home in the US.
If I could give zero stars I would. Our experience was awful.
Amazing Agency to Work With...
We have loved working with the Nightlight Christian Adoptions office in Greenville, South Carolina!
We found both our daughters on Rainbow Kids, so they were already listed with an out-of-state agency. We needed a local (in-state) agency for both home study and post placement services. Nightlight was highly recommended by some of our friends so we decided to go with them and we couldn't have had a better experience! Twice! They provided us with two very professional and very timely home studies on two separate occasions for international adoptions from Korea and China. They also provided (and are currently providing) post-placement services. Everyone in the Greenville office has been a pleasure to work with, but we especially love Amy. We have found the folks at Nightlight to be very knowledgable about adoption and also compassionate and supportive throughout the journey. Most importantly, they understood how urgently we needed to get our girls home and they were able to complete both our home studies in less than a month! We paid a fee for them to expedite and of course we had to do our part to make this happen, with paperwork and education, but we couldn't have done it without Nightlight. We have heard so many stories of agencies dragging out the home study process while families (and children) waited and waited... So glad that was not our story! Our first daughter (adopted in 2012) was in our arms in 9 1/2 months; the second (adopted in 2016) in exactly 7 months! Nightlight was a BIG part of that! I don't know if there is another adoption in our future or not, but we wouldn't think of using any other agency. Thanks Nightlight for being a joy to work with and for blessing us with your professional expertise and gracious support along the way! ❤︎
My wife and I have been involved with the Nightlight Agency in Tulsa, OK as adoptive parents for almost 2 years now. What a blessing to work with a Christian organization that actually lives out their faith every day! Debbie and her staff have been wonderful! We had a special needs child placed with us for over 18 months with plans to adopt. Anyone who has a child with special needs knows the tremendous amount of stress and emotional highs and lows associated with raising that child. Add the normal stressors associated with an adoption and you get an extremely crazy emotional roller coaster ride. Through all of this, Debbie and Nightlight were always 100% supportive and always had the child's best interests as well as our family's best interests in mind. They went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us. They are all extremely knowledgeable and passionate about helping children and the families involved. We now feel like Debbie and all her staff are family. I can't imagine going through the process without the support of an agency like Nightlight. We would highly recommend Nightlight to anyone in the Tulsa area!
Our experience with Nightlight was absolutely great. Working with the staff was comfortable and seamless. We asked a million questions (big and small) and never felt like a burden. Katherine made us feel very at ease and it was more like talking to a friend. We would definitely recommend Nightlight to anyone in the adoption process for a home study.
Professional, Kind, Personal
Very kind, courteous, professional.
Professional, Thorough, Timely
Our experience with Nightlight has been exceptional. The staff has been incredibly efficient in helping us through a very complicated international adoption. They were so kind to help us make sure that our documentation did not expire through a long and tedious process with the government which we were adopting from. Nightlight will also be with us through the post adoptive process in providing reports to our daughters home country. They always contact us when these reports are due so that a home visit can be scheduled. It is so nice to not have to worry about keeping up with all of paper trail. The reports are always written professionally and in a timely manner. Our family has recommended Nightlight to many of our friends considering adoption. We are eternally grateful for their efforts in bring our daughter home!
So blessed by Nightlight. For reasons outside of their control, it took several years for our international adoption referral to occur. During that long wait, we were encouraged frequently by the staff. Once we received our referral, they assisted us in the numerous arrangements needed for our expected 3 month stay in country. Due to political issues once there, our stay was extended to 8 months. During this difficult time, Nightlight's emotional support was wonderful. For the entire length of our relationship (5+years), the Nightlight staff has always been not only quick to answer any questions I've had but also very thorough. Our family has been blessed by our relationship with Nightlight. We are so thankful for their Christian beliefs that they uphold to bring families together!
Matched and placed in less than 24 hours!!!:)
My husband and i sent our initial application to nightlight in July 2016. We were matched, and met our son on November 11 2016. Praise God! While we had dealings with the whole staff, we worked most closely with Amy and Juliette. Amy was amazing at responding to emails and answering any and all questions we had. If she didn't have the answer right away she would make sure to find it for us. She was extremely professional and an absolute joy to work with. Juliette worked more closely with us when we were matched with a birth mother. During this time she was great. We were matched AND placed in19 hrs 22 mins (so you can imagine the whirlwind we were all in). Most people have at least a few weeks for this phase but we didn't. Juliette was just a phone call away the entire time. While my husband and I were waiting anxiously in the waiting room the day the relinquishment papers were being signed she was right by her phone giving us words of encouragement and updates. She was the person who walked us in to meet our son and she captured the priceless moment for us on camera.
Home study and post placements - professional and caring!
We used the Greenville, SC office for a home study and post placement reports for a China adoption. Amy Eudy is sweet, professional, and truly has a heart for children. Everyone at this agency with the exception of one person that is no longer there has been amazing! We frequently refer friends considering adoption to them and would personally use them again without reserve.
In the adoption world, the most most important quality is to constantly keep the best interest of the children at the forefront. I feel strongly that everyone I have met at the Greenville office does this. Adoption is very emotional and often difficult. It is great to have an agency that does their best to lessen the stress.
They helped build my family
We ran across Nightlight by chance and that chance has brought our son and very soon a daughter into our home. We have been blessed by the Renewed Hope program with Nightlight. Three years ago we didn't know that there were children who were were adopted and then given back up for adoption. Dissolutions happen for so many reasons. There are not a lot of agencies who are willing to work with these families but Nightlight does. Laura has been a great friend and mentor throughout our adoptions. As you can imagine these adoptions tend to be highly emotional and she has been there for me and my husband every step of the way. Even with a failed adoption attempt this summer. Amy did our home study as well as Kim and both were extremely professional and warm in manner. I will continue to work with, support and recommend Nightlight Christian adoptions to any and everyone who will listen.
We owe Nightlight a debt we could never repay. After 3 miscarriages and years of fertility treatment, we decided to try the Snowflakes program. The process was amazing. We finished the home study and were matched within 3 months. The FET was done about 2 months later and we gave birth to our little girl. We are so grateful for the amazing team at Snowflakes.
Disrespectful, Dishonoring, Slow and Poor Communication
We began the process with Nightlight to place our embryos for adoption. We were assigned Leah as our Coordinator. Immediately, I noticed she was not quick to respond via email and the process of us working through our Stages to get to the Matching Phase was prolonged. I even made mention of this to her, to no avail. The process and paperwork given to donors is not explained, and, honestly, is not well streamlined. We would have questions regarding the forms we needed to fill out or about the process and she would not reply timely. Eventually I spoke with Leah's team lead, Alyssa, and expressed my thoughts with her. She was very kind and pleasant, but, sadly, there was still no change in our dealings with Leah. After working to complete the last Phase of paperwork before matching, my husband and I reached out to Leah once again before proceeding any further regarding a contract question. Long story short, it all turned into a big mess with all of the incompetent people working for this agency. I ended up having to track down myself. Kimberly Tyson, the Director of the Snowflake Program. NOW I see where the issue comes into play with this agency and EA Program -- Leadership! Kimberly was very unkind -- rude, actually. Completely assuming, disrespectful, dishonoring. I would never ever ever allow my precious babies to be placed anywhere near this person or agency. And to cloak as an agency of Christian principles? Wow. They are repulsive in carrying out this blatant lie in front of people who are likely working from a emotional place. I would never do business with this group. I have, and will continue, to blast their disservice and game to all parties considering them. Please do not work with this group. After talking to many others after my experience, apparently, many, many others have had similar experiences. AVOID!
run far far away
I felt that this agency was keeping a lot of information from me & what my rights are as a birth mother. They care more about the person who is PAYING vs who is PLACING. things always seemed off with them but i was hesitant to change agencies hoping it was just paranoia. as a birth mother i recommend finding another agency
